Mixed-Use Development Study

As a pre-development study, the design approach recognizes the civic significance of the historic Druid Hill Park to transform it’s southern edge along the reservoir into a vibrant, mixed-use corridor. The project envisions active street frontage that would attract visitors both day and night. The plan also imagines the reservoir as transformed to become a multi-use space that hosts cultural, passive and recreational activities. As a pre-development approach, the study goes beyond resolving technical issues to considering the significance of development on its greater context, proposing a new vision for the corridor, the reservoir and the park. As a proactive design approach, the study has become a tool for communicating with the public and the city, to help everyone work towards a common vision for revitalization and public uses, creating a destination for all city residents to enjoy.
