Green Network Plan

Building upon the historic Olmsted plan of Baltimore City, the Green Network Plan creates an expanded network of open spaces, greenways and ecologic environments. The plan considers how existing assets can be leveraged to activated blighted areas of the city. At the same time, the plan is a strategy for selective demolition and reuse of the numerous vacant properties that plague Baltimore’s inner city neighborhoods. The planning process entailed a thorough mapping analysis utilizing ecological, transportation, social and economic variables to prioritize interventions and identify patterns. From this analysis, a city-wide plan was developed, linking existing green spaces with new ones. Ultimately, the Green Network Plan is a revitalization tool as well as tool for ecological restoration.
