Betty Hyatt Park

The Betty Hyatt Park Vision Plan transforms an underutilized urban park into a multi-use, cultural and recreational destination. As an example of proactive public engagement, Davin worked with the Friends of Betty Hyatt Park organization and the local community through an in-depth community engagement process. By utilizing surveys, charrettes, data research and public meetings, the team identified uses and configurations that meet the desires of the community before developing a cohesive plan that programs the park with a variety of active spaces.. The project transforms what is now a forgotten, heavily sloped park with an unused court into a space that would bring together the diverse populations of the surrounding neighborhoods. By incorporating a running track, mini-pitch court, outdoor fitness, bocce court and amphitheater, the park becomes a space for multi-generational use that brings people together.
